The "Ham Radio" HT is on the center right of the above image. The article itself doesn't mention ham radio, though.  And that's not a ham frequency on that HT anyway...  Grin

No AR15?  No sidearm?  If you survive you are going to need both.

It's the New York Times - they would never succumb, even in satire, to admit that either of those two items would have a useful application.

If you do a search of the various Survival Blogs online under the topic of "communications" they recommend use of at
least Walkie Talkies that just work, to CB rigs, to obtaining your Ham Radio license as the best course of action to follow in these quiet times!

FRS, MURS, GMRS, 2-Way Radios For Communications
http://modernsurvivalblog.com/communications/2-way-radios-for-emergency-kit-or-preps/

See "SurvivalBlog.Com" search returned for "Ham Radio" at ...

Keep your head down and your powder dry!

Some just advocate obtaining a "radio" that covers HF through VHF/UHF!  I guess they don't expect licensing to be a factor in the post apocalyptic world.

Here in WV the weapons and ammo come first and the rest as an afterthought!

If you want a headache for some reason or another just imagine how those New Yorkers will have it in a post apocalyptic world!  That will definitely mess with your mind!

As long as you have weapons and ammo, the rest will come easy...

Perhaps you should have actually read the article.

"... in New York, where possession of the most fundamental survivalist self-defense staple — the gun — is highly restricted by law. (The same goes for brass knuckles, nunchucks, ninja stars, switchblade knives, wrist-brace slingshots and, ..."

That's one way to put an end to the CB nonsense on this forum.

Yeah, finding your post above ^^^ was really challenging.  That "stalk" took it right out of me.

I think I'll have a Pepsi.  Save the powders and PBRs for yourself.

if it's a local/regional disaster, couple weeks of supplies and keep the weasels out.

if it's a nuclear war, might as well run into the cloud, it's all nuclear winter within a year anyway.
