Hi all, our club is changing our repeater to an ICOM FR5000. I believe it is 25w full duty cycle or 50w half duty cycle. Are their any recommendations for an external power amplifier that will working reliably for us?
thanks

How low can the power go?  You can use a Motorola PA from an MSF5000 if you can get it down to around 5-7 watts by using pads or power settings.  You'll have to modify it to work without a control signal (detailed instructions on Repeater Builder website).  GE amps won't work because they take less than 1/2 watt to drive (unless you start cutting stages out of it).

You'll need to make sure your duplexer can handle the power, too.  If you have the cheap factory notch-notch one built into the Icom case, you'll burn it out in a week.

Henry sells a 30 in 100 out continuous duty rack mount amp for under $800

TPL makes better quality amps with 25 in 125 out for nearly twice the price.
