Coax Dipole

Some years back I heard of a few hams building dipole ant for 160 80 or 40 out of RG 58.  The antenna was suppose to be very broad.  I think it was fed with normal 52 ohm coax like RG8.  There was some trick using the shield on one leg and the center conductor on the other.  Any one have infor on this boardbanded dipole???

I have built at least 10 of the Double Bazooka antenna.  This is a coaxial dipole.  I have a copy of the original QST article describing this antenna from the 1960's....I think....it isn't handy.  It was developed by MIT as a RADAR antenna.  There is a website with the info you need.........http://www.leeslimo.com/bazooka.htm

I seem to remember seeing that design.  Seems to me they fed the shield on one side from the center conductor of the feed line and the center conductor of the opposite side with the shield of the feed line the shorted the ends.  But I don't remember what the dimensions were.  I think I have it somewhere in my notes file (well, "file" isn't the best description  -  "pile" is how the XYL describes it) and I'll try to locate it.

There are two versions, depending on whether the center
conductor is continuous through the center of the antenna, or if
the center conductor from each side is connected to the shield
of the opposite side.  The cross-connected version will give
greater bandwidth (in effect, the two stubs are connected in
parallel instead of series.)
