I acquired a used sb-200 some time ago which was in good shape and functioned well(600W+) on all bands. Recently, I have been unable to achieve full output on ten meters (less than 200W) and detect a slight burning smell when operation on 10 meters is attempted. I opened the case (with the unit unplugged and caps discharged, of course), but was unable to find any visibly burned or melted components. The amp continues to function fine on all of the other bands. This is as far as I've gone diagnostically with the unit. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to some of the obvious things I should check next? My troubleshooting experience with the radio internals are somewhat limited as I'm more of an antenna guy. Also, this may have started happening after some 12m operation in the 10m setting, something which is widely reported to be a safe practice. Any advice would be helpful, as I would like to avoid sending this heavy unit to anyone for repairs. After the labor and shipping, it is not cost effective.

I always recommend Robert Norgard's web page (good photos and descriptions for the novice technician) for owners of the SB-200
