I just purchased a FT-2000 (not here yet though), and I am wondering if I will have to do any special interfacing on the keying line to use my Amp Supply LK-500ZC? Anybody have this combination?

TNX!

The Lk-500ZC has a 12v antenna relay.  It's a small relay and it does not draw a lot of current.  I would take my VOM and I would measure the current that the relay draws and see what it is.  Then, go to the manual on the Ft-2000 and check the manual for the current rating on the switching of the amplifier circuit in the 2000.  Most new radios give the rating on that so you can determine if you need an interface.  I would say you won't, but I would check it that way to be sure.  I think the rlay draws about 100 mills or so and most radios can handle about 500 mills.  But check to be sure.

Thanks! I will check the manual when the radio arrives.

I just downloaded the manual and found out that the FT-2000 has a relay closure to ground for amp keying that can take 100VAC at up to 300mA, 60 VDC at 200mA, or 30VDC at up to 1A. That should be plenty of margin for the LK amplifier to be able to be switched in-line. It looks like a SB 200 or SB 220 amp would need the Harbach mod though....

Thanks!
