Hello all, I was just wondering how "flexible" the autotuner on the 440 Kenwood is as far as tuning a G5RV, or similar antanae. Was thinking about maybe getting one and getting back on the air. Smiley Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanx es 73's.

I use the TS-440 auto tuner to tune a 10-40m dipole and I have used it to tune a 102' G5RV.  Works great.  It takes about 5 seconds to tune on the 10-40 dipole. On the G5RV sometimes you would tune it within 1.3-1 SWR, then as you would transmit, it would change and then you would have to retune it.  The nice thing is that the auto tuner tunes at low power.  On 40 and 80m of course the tuning is very tight and when you move a few Kc you would need to retune it.

I recently fabricated the 102 ft. version G5RV for
a fellow ham friend of mine to use with his 440SAT
The G5RV is suspended about 40 ft. up and off the side
of a tower. The 440SAT will  tune 10 thru 80 easily
with the exception of 17 meters. This is my experience
with the combination for what it's worth.
