My gawd! Prop. must stink or life is pretty darn boring to get all twisted in our knickers over this.  Geez...can't imagine the dialog if something important or compelling had to be discussed.

Just to set the record straight on this so-important verbal tit for tat, the use of the single word "linear" for "linear amplifier", et al was well in use before CB came along.  Check out the correspondence in QST back in the 1950's.  And continues to be in use in ham circles ever since.

Synonyms for curmudgeon are killjoy and wet blanket.
