Hi Folks

When you (US) guys state a wire size like #12 or #14 do you mean AWG  12awg How do the numbers compare to SWG or Metric sizes for us UK hams? Anyone got a chart that gives the sizes #?? to SWG/Metric UK.

The "wire gauge" number has different meanings in AWG and SWG for sure.

I looked in the RSGB handbook and didn't find it but in my 1997 ARRL handbook, page 30.31 the conversion chart from SWG to AWG is there. Probably in the newer ones too.

There are some good conversion charts in the ARRL handbook but for our friends down under the numbers have to be reversed. ;<)
