Question...  What web site or fcc web site
is the correct one to use?  For changing
your call sign too, obtain a newer call
sign??    Once you have up-graded to higher
class license.  Is this under the Vanity
Call format or what??

Or the proper procedure to go through.
Also the cost for a new call sign etc?
Any  information about this greatly
appreciated... Or the proper format to
use.. Thanks.

Dwight---KC0OHP

Go to the QRZ.com website & look under the menu item VANITY CALL SIGNS. I think it directs you to the F.C.C. ULS website, also. If I remember correctly it cost $16.20 to get your Vanity Call from the F.C.C. You have a choice of 1x3 or 2x3 calls, since you are a General. You can even find out whether the callsign you want is available or not for your first choice & you can list up to 10 choices & see if they are available also,I believe. Then once you pay your fee you can track the status of your application & whether your likely to get your 1st choice or not. Hope this helps ! If you have any more questions, please feel free to e-mail me !

If I'm not mistaken, when you upgrade you can ask the VEC to request a new call sign with your new higher class ticket, or you have to ask them to check a box to retain your current callsign, I'm not sure which is correct.

On the other hand, if you just want to get a vanity call, you can go with either of the before mentioned ways to do so.  73!

Anyone who requests a sequentially assigned call sign and is a General or below will receive a 2 x 3 call.  If you wish a shorter call, you will have to go with the vanity route.

The FCC just announced a price change on vanity callsigns.  I don't have it handy but you will want to verify the current fee structure.
