Need help with a ground rod install

I am trying to install an 8 ft. ground rod in my back yard.  I hit solid bedrock about 4 feet down.  I guess I could rent a pile driver ))).  Dynamite.....yeah that'll work.  No.  Too dangerous.  Seriously though, anybody know an efficient, quick, easy way to get this thing through rock without breaking my bank account?  You know...a home depot DIY type method?  I'm just trying to follow all the rules of proper ground rod installation.

try diging a trench and laying it in side ways.. still grounded..and easier to do  lay it down long ways, with one end up through the surface to bond to.....
