I have inherited all the parts for a 5 element 6m Yagi. (FOR FREE!!)

The only thing that I do not have is the directions as to how to put it together.

Here are the specs on the parts on hand.

Boom length is 12 ft

Reflector element length is 116"
Driven element lenght is 110"
Director element 1 length is 140.5"
Director element 2 length is 103"
Director element 3 length is 101"

There are several different making s on the boom like it was used for several different set ups. So I do not want to go by them.
I need to get this right the first time because once it is up it will be very difficult to adjust it. It will be going up on top of a 50' tower.

Can someone give me some direction on this?

I need to make sure I get the spacing right the first time.

I have looked around on the internet for a program to assist me but since I have never built one of these before I'm not sure of how or which program to look at.

Thanks

Bob

The 140 inch element doesnt sound right - are you sure its from the 6 meter assembly?
I looked up the plans for a ssb design on Ham Universe just to compare relative lengths. All the dimensions I found are near the 9 foot length or so, at 117 relector, 114 driven, and 105, 106, and 100 for the director lengths.

Sorry!! Input error!!

Here are what the specs for what I have are suppose to be::

Boom length is 12 ft

Reflector element length is 116"
Driven element lenght is 110"
Director element 1 length is 104.5"
Director element 2 length is 103"

My fingers were going faster than my brain could comprehend.

Go to the Cushcraft web site and download a manual for their 5 element 6M yagi. If the boom length is about the same then their element spacing should work.

I'd set everything per the dimensions shown here:

I have the manual and the boom is the correct length!!

I will assemble it to these specs and see how it works.

I built a 5 element from parts including the Gamma match from hardware store material.
It is also on a 12' boom.
The elements are all equal spaced.
It works like a champ.
Bandwith is quite wide.
Trick I uses is to adjust the match in with an SWR meter and then reverse to procedure and send a signal to the beam from another antenna and further fine adjust the gamma for max recieve on the S meter.
Needless to say this antenna can hear and  transmitt match as well as you could ever ask for.
It's not the highest gain configuration possible but i'm happy with it.
I can contact nearly any station I can hear with it on 100 watts.
