I recently awakened my long-dormant KPC-3, last used in 1998. It has firmware version 5.1, which is not optimized for APRS use.
I contacted Kantronics, and was told they do not support "obsolete" units like mine (but they would give me $20 in trade towards a new KPC-3 Plus). Ha!
So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a source for an Eprom for the old girl, version 6.0 through 8.2?
Thanks in advance.

Doug,
I have located an eprom, and now I just need to find an electronic copy of the manual for a KPC with vers. 8.2 firmware. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Levi, I too have an old KPC-3. If you have time, I'd like you to pass on any info you can about updating it. I got mine in '94 or so. It was the first ones that came out with "GPS Ready" on it.
Thanks

Levi, Go here to download the KPC-3 manual: http://www.kantronics.com/downloads.htmAlthough this is actually for the "plus" version, the commands are identical (except for the enhanced plus commands, which have no effect in the non-plus version). I'm not aware of any locations on the internet that have the regular KPC-3 manual so this may be your best bet.

Wondering if you have access to the source code. I have an old KPC 3 and would like to update it but I do not have an extra eprom, or a way to burn it.
Any help would be appreciated. I under stand that the KPC3 can be upgraded to 8.2 is this correct?
Thanks Alan K0agr
