Hello, I would like to know if anyone has tried a scaf- 1 filter with a 570 dg. I have a dsp 59+ filter and it will work fine at certain times, but I would like to know about the scaf filter for noise reduction. I use the attenuation and the noise reduction features on the 570d but they do reduce incoming signal strength. I am mainly a cw operator. Thanks for any information....Dave

Dave, I had the SCAF-1 and found it very effective with my TS-440S/AT.  I really like the SCAF-1, and think it does a fine job.  When I got my TS-570D/G, I hooked the SCAF-1 up, but found that, after several months, I just wasn't using it.  I have an Inrad 400 Hz cw filter in the 570.

With or without the IF CW filter, I found the SCAF-1 to provide only a small benefit when used with the 570.  It did take some of the noise away, and it did clean up some of the digital sound resulting from the DSP in the 570, but the benefit was small.  Effective use of the DSP filters, the RF gain, and the CW reverse function does everything I need to pull in the signals with the 570.

If you have a SCAF-1, try it out with your 570.  If you don't have one, I wouldn't buy one specifically to use with the TS-570D/G.

Best regards,

I also have tried my SCAF-1 on my 570 a few times.  I also have the Inrad 400 filter installed and it's not worth it IMHO.

SRI that didn't sound right.  I meant the SCAF wasn't worth it.  The Inrad is great!
