There is a film on the bottom of my magnetic mount antenna and it has worn and now the base is scratching my car finish and it is starting to rust.  Where can I get a replacement film?

This is one of the reasons mag mounts aren't such a good idea.

You can buy large sheets (8.5x11) of clear vinyl plastic with adhesive on one side at Hobby Lobby. I'm sure other hobby stores do too.

I have used a section cut from a ziploc bag.

duct tape as long as the magnet is strong enough to handle the thickness.

I use Duck brand, clear packing tape.  The stuff is incredibly tough.   The ham dealers also have vinyl stickers of various sizes.  You can find them easily at hamfests.

... isn't it ironic, that the magnet mount does so much damage to the car, but punching a hole and installing a proper mount would have avoided this?

It's not too late.

Wrap the base with a piece of cloth and a rubber band!

Throw away the @#$% mag-mount and install the antenna as God intended - in a 3/4" hole and an NMO mount!

A smoking section in a restaurant makes as much sense as a peeing section in a swimming pool.

I have used plumbing seal from Home depot.  It is a red rubber sold in sheets.  I've had a mag mount Wilson 1000 cut to 10m, a big 5 footer, and have not scratched my car paint in three years.  Cheap and good.
