ok, what are the 2 meter ssb frequencies, and which ones are usb, and which ones are lsb, i have looked, but i cant find the usb/lsb seperated out. thank you

Good question!

Here is the 2 meter band plan written by the A.R.R.L. You will always use USB on 2 meters. You will see quite a bit of activity, and sometimes will not. I myself are quite active like many others, but you will absolutely need to horizontally polorized for this mode. A horizontal omni with gain such as the 2 meter Big Wheel, or any amount of elements on a beam will always be your best bet. Get ready for the VHF contest next weekened. They'll be tons of activity from 6 meters up to 10 Ghz and beyond. It's going to be rad!

Notes: The frequency 146.40 MHz is used in some areas as a repeater input. This band plan has been proposed by the ARRL VHF-UHF Advisory Committee.

144.1 to 144.3 Mhz, USB is used exclusively, and horizontal polarization.  Satellite operations start at 144.3 Mhz, so you may hear some activity there... but that is not simplex operation.

The convention is to use UPPER Sideband on 2 Meters, horizontally polarized.  And in most areas of the U.S., that's 144.100-144.300 MHz.  And above all, note that 144.000 -144.100 MHz is CW ONLY, no digital, "no nuthin'"  but CW, and that's by FCC rule, not just a "band plan."  (At least, for U.S. Amateurs.  Amateurs in other countries may well have different rules.  But that doesn't matter; FCC rules still apply 1001% to U.S. Amateurs.)
    144.100-144.200 MHz is especially "reserved" for weak signal work, although esp. during contests, the activity spreads downward from the SSB calling frequency of 144.200 MHz.  Once contact is made on 144.200 MHz, it's best to QSY if it's for much more than a quick exchange.
    Certain regions in the U.S. will have some variation from the original 2 M bandplan, so be aware when operating to avoid interference.  That especially applies to 144.000-144.300 MHz; an FM operator can easily wipe out many weak signal contacts in progress without even realizing the fact, because FM receivers won't respond properly to the lower stength signals, as well as the wider bandwidth of an FM signal wiping out a huge portion of the weak signal area, or even the beacon subband below 144.300 MHz.  So definitely, PLEEZE, no FM below at least 144.300 MHz!

    The only time Lower Sideband is used on 2 Meters is associated with satellites that use an inverting tranponder, where the input (uplink) is on USB in the 70 cm band, and the downlink is 2 Meter LSB, or the uplink may be on 2 Meter LSB, and the downlink is 70 cm USB.  

    (Not sure any of those birds are still operational, though.  AMSAT should have that info.)

is the digital calling frequency 144.144 and cw calling frequency is 144.100.I been calling cq for 20 minuts on 144.144 psk31 with no takers?Kb9ygd.

Digital from 6 meters on up is very hard to come by. Partially I believe is not many know about the incrediable advantages, and characteristics of the VHF/UHF bands. It's a shame!

I'm very active on weak signal, and have been trying to get a following. It's up to you to do the same in your local area, and maybe things will start to sproose up again.

I hit it everyday, but I think I'm starting to get through to some. So do what I'm doing, and I think like everything else in time you'll see more.
