You will need an external relay, such as the AmpKeyer or you can place an internal HEXFET switch inside the 30L-1 to reduce the voltage and current for modern solid-state tranceivers. If you take the internal approach - you might as well check the HV capacitors and diode string. K1ROD and WN4I makes nice replacement board for the old top hat diodes (that do fail over time).
