Let's say that I am applying my school for a ARISS contact. Typically, assuming that it'll be approve, how long does it take?

Thanks... and the cheapst way for getting equipment for a requirement for school contact?

The one I was involved with took about 18 months to 2 years from start to contact. However at that time the gal that was on the station doing the contacts was doing about 2 a week. The schedule now has slowed down considerably.
Very interesting project. The school got a grant from a local casino (school on reservation) for the primary station and I took me FT-100 for the backup. They recommend 100 watts out on 2 meter FM. Just to be sure to get a good contact. We had a big CP beam on az-el rotator, but I think the j-pole we had on the backup would have worked as well.
Have fun!
