Do yourself a favor, and buy an ARRL Handbook. They're about $50 delivered to your door. All the abbreviations are there, all of the Q signals, and a host of other very pertinent data. It is, beyond argument, the best bang for the buck of any technical manual offered anywhere. In fact, if you read it cover to cover a couple of times, you'll end up knowing more than the vast majority of amateurs.
