my club needs a new home for our IRLP/echolink, but they say that you cant use 2 meters or 70cm if you  host it? why not and is there a way around it?

I assume by new home you mean a new home for the node equipment.  I've sure never heard of the restriction you mention.  Tons of simplex nodes are hosted on 2m and 440.

Thats right. There are lots of them on two meters and 440.   Maybe what they meant was you are not supposed to CONTROL it over two meters?

For that reason and others, I feel that 440 is the best place for them.
