if it still works, rthen a little celophane tape, or duct tape or most any thing will do.  , heck in the military we would get some waxed  string and  "lace" it.

make the cleaning lady buy you a new cable. I found new 50' CAT5 for under $8.00 at www.dalco.com. Make her pay the price that Best Buy would charge. You could tell her that you will give her a 20% discount and make her happy and you will still pay for her next cleaning job.

Another option... why fix it. If the pairs are intact, leave them alone.
