You know, you could replace "computer" with "radio" in the above.

Just sayin'

No shame in being on Facebook. It's a great way to stay in touch with old friends, and make new ones. Check me out - Ryan Valenjevick.

Facebook is a tool. A great tool to keep in touch with friends that you might have had only for a few years before you or they moved away. I still talk to my childhood friends on the phone. I always have (I am 42). I speak to my best friend about twice per week, and he lives in NC. I have known him since 1st grade. What I use facebook for is communicating to those old friends you might have not seen since high school, or old co-workers you lost touch with. Unlike the phone which you can play phone-tag with and just leave messages when you are trying to get in touch with, facebook allows you to post on their wall, and they pick it up whether it's an hour later, or even 1 month later. I use it for that and skip the drinks, games, and all the other garbage.

There is no shame in it. In fact, I think I might follow up on my idea to suggest to my radio club to get their own page.

I agree there is a lot of useless crap on Facebook. like superpoke, drinks, games and stuff but i just delete the requests. Funny things is, most of those requests are from women....

I don't do applications at all. All I use my FB for is to keep in touch with family, friends, ham friends and work mates. Plus I love adding my Photos in there too. While on a recent trip to the USA, I download all my daytime pictures after we settle in the motel room so all my friends could see them and I would give them an update as to where we were and what we did on that day. And they loved every minutes of it. In fact, I still get comments at work about my 501 photos that I took. Laptops are great. Hey, as long as we're having fun, it keeps us out of trouble. Mind you, I never get in trouble anyways. lol
So ham radio and computers go good together. It's a perfect marriage I would say.
That's my opinion.

MY XYL is addicted to Facebook and she has a bunch of stuff loaded up like games, drinks, and such. Pretty much i only use my page to talk to my old school mates and family and some hams but thats it.
