There are over 1,626,774 callsigns in the HamCall database (Buckmaster, Dec 19, 2000)

There are 170,000+ members of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL.org, Dec 19, 2000)

According to http://www.census.gov/ the world population is 6,136,165,983 at 11:19 EST Mar 22, 2001

Therefore the world's 1,626,774 licenced hams represent

   0.027%

of the world's population (according to my calculations :-)

Kind of makes you wonder how long we can hang on to all this valuable spectrum considering what it auctions for these days. Use it or loose it!

Eric..

Well said "Use It or Loose It"

I wish all the people who complain all day and write endless messages
about Low Code speed and technical skills would put is as much effort
on promoting our Amatuer Radio Hobby.

Lets see if we can increase that .027%
