I am just getting started with Airmail 2000 on the Army MARS digital network, and I am having a little trouble, and was hoping someone could help out.

First off, just to get started I connected to our gateway station using Airmail in the keyboard mode.  Once linked to the gateway, I was able to manually read the messages and bulletins.

I then tried connecting to the gateway using the automated BBS mode in Airmail.  I get linked, Airmail checks for new messages addressed to me and then disconnects.  I would like it to download the bulletins, so I can view and print them without being connected to the gateway.

I went into the catalog in Airmail as the help files suggest, and in the tree under winlink it lists the callsign of the gateway station.  After clicking on that, I was able to check the box next to the option to request a complete bulletin list.  After closing the catalog, and connecting back up, it never requests the list from the gateway, it just checks for my messages and disconnects.  When I return to the catalog, it stills shows I have checked the box to request a list of the bulletins.

Hope this makes since so far.  Anybody have any idea what I need to take a look at?  I'm hoping AAA9AC will jump in here, I know John uses Airmail extensively and can probably answer my question.

Thanks,
Evan, AAR7IS

Evan,
I am a sysop for the Texas state gateway.  First off there are several reasons why you are not recieving the bulletins.  MARS uses the older version of WinLink, this does not support the catalog functionallity that you are trying to use.  Also for my users I had to setup a indiviual forwarding rules in the WinLink software to forward the user specified bulletins to the end user stations.  You should be able to send a message to the sysop asking for the BBS to forward specified bulletins that you require.  If you list the routing indicators (RI) that you want, the sysop can add these to the Winlink forwarding file and you should be in business.
