I would like to hear from yaesu 840 transceiver owners.I am interested in purchasing same.Info about how reliable,ease of operation and etc.

I think the 840 is a great rig.  I use it only on 10m, with a maximum output of 20 watts.  I have QSO'd with 45 states and 19 countries with 20 watts and a hamstick antenna mounted to a gutter.  It's not an impresive setup, but I would go with the 840 unless you want to spend over $1k.  Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. 73 and good luck looking!

I've had mine for 10 months and love it.  Have worked 35 states, 14 countries on 20 meters with up to 100 watts on a ground mounted Butternut HF9V.  Very impressive rig for the $$$.  Also contacts on other bands, 10, 15, 17, 40 and 80.  Waiting on auto antenna tuner to do more band hopping.  I would buy the same rig again.
