Are you *required* to work all states from one particular band, or is there an award for simply working all states?  Also, I know you're supposed to submit a log, but are you also required to submit QSL cards too?

The WAS rules are available for free from the ARRL website.

WAS needn't be all on one band.  Although there is a separate award for working all states on each of five bands (5BWAS).  You do have to make all the contacts from one location, or within a small radius of that one location.  All QSL cards are required and they are submitted for the award.  You get them back!
