I have not seen any reviews or have I chatted with anyone familiar with the mfj-805 rf sniffer. I know it's cheap and easy to build your own, but i'm looking for comments specific to the operation of the mfj-805

I heard about using a black sharpie pen to identify ferrite materials...swipe the pen across the ferrite material and if the ink disappears it means what? if the ink stays on the surface and you see it then it means what?
or is this just an april fools joke?
finally any comments on the use of the new mix 31 ferrite split bead offered by radio works.
please, only direct answers...I know about palomer and amidon but i'm specifically asking about mix31.
