I have owned a few decoders over the years and I would say the MFJ is OK but not the best for what you are wanting to do...sure not worth $180 in my view and I would look on the used market if I had to have one.
go here to see what other Hams say:http://www.eham.net/reviews/products/59
I used many AEA readers and they were good....but here is my question...do you want a 'stand alone' unit for you SWL rig or could you use your computer for this??
Yep..if you have a computer with a soundcard (which you do or you would not have posted here hihi) then you are in luck and you can do all this decoding for FREE by using your soundcard and some FREE souncard digital mode software.
I could go on and on but look at these websites and see what you think....very simple actually all you are going to do is take the sound from your SWL rig over to your PC 'in' or 'mic' on the PC souncard and then download and install the digital program software to decode. I would be happy to help you direct so don't be afraid to give me an email email@example.com
Here are some links to get you started:http://home.teleport.com/~nb6z/http://home.teleport.com/~nb6z/start.htmhttp://www.qsl.net/wm2u/http://www.ac6v.com/opmodes.htm
Again there is software out to decode every mode you have mentioned so if you want to do it FREE with your soundcard it sure is a cheap and good way to go!
