I once found a web page that covered VHF and UHF repeater frequencies that could be used while hiking the A.T. I can't find that website anymore... Does anyone know of something like that?

Well the difficulty your having is probably in your spelling of "appalatian" (appalachian). I found it right away after typing in "appalachian trail vhf frequencies". Here 'tis.
