I've done some checking around and I'm having difficulty finding sources for quality, older ham gear. For example, I'd kinda like to pick up an older 2m mobile rig from the 80's/90's, just to use at home to hit some distant repeaters or try satellite work. Is there anywhere on the net that has a decent quantity/selection of this type of equipment?

Thanks,

Matt

It's unlikely that the big ham equipment dealers will have stuff like that.  AES has a "used/reconditioned" section on their website and they do sell reconditioned (used and tested) gear with a warranty, but they don't have a lot of 2m FM stuff (usually).

You're probably stuck with buying from a private seller.  Check the "classifieds" here on eHam.net, also on QRZ.com, also on QTH.com, and even on ARRL.org, lots of places.  Unless you're willing to buy a pig in a poke (take your chances and get whatever you get), I always recommend anybody shopping for anything used: Try to find a "local" deal.  That way, you can check the rig out before you hand over any cash for it, you'll avoid paying any shipping/handling charges, and you have an opportunity to meet a new friend!
