I am trying to find out which 2M or 2M/440 mobile transceivers first had subaudible tones for CTCSS.

I have a Kenwood TW4000 and it has dipswitches underneath to change the CTCSS. I can only have one tone at a time! I am trying to find out which ICOM, KENWOOD, YAESU etc. first came out with a rig that had the subaudible tone so CTCSS was automatic. Or, also was there a rig where you could set the tone by the microphone keypad? My radio is circa 1986 so I am guessing subaudible tones must have been available around 1990 or so. Thanks.
