Don't know a lot about the Motorolas, but it appears it's a 40-50W VHF at 136-162 or 146-174 MHz. It will have to be programmed by someone w/ Motorola software. but should be a solid, rugged piece of gear. OTOH it will lack easy programmability and some of the bells and whistles you'd find on amateur gear.
