Hi!  I just opened up my Icom IC-706mkiiG and did an
incredibly easy install of my new UT-102 Voice Synth.
module.  I put the cover back on my IC-706 and hit
"lock" for two seconds to get a gimmicky voice that
announced the frequency and mode.  Not too helpful
for the visually impaired, as it does not help with
the menu setups, however I guess it has its uses.

One complaint I have with the unit is that its
output level is set so loud that it distorts.  This
is not the internal speaker or the headphones, as
I can turn the AF Gain down and quieten the speech
level from the UT-102, but it still clips.  In spite
of this annoyance, it works as advertised.  Is it
worth the USD$50 that http://www.universal-radio.com
wants for it?  I dunno. I've given you my $.02 worth

There is a little tiny adjustment pot in the 706G that will let you set this level correctly.  Info is in the service manual.

Old blind fumble-fingers here can't find it in his IC-706mkiiG service manual Sad  Could you please give him some more hints, like maybe what page number to look for it in the service manual so as to narrow his search?
