I would like to start using a Kenwood TM-3530A I recently brought out of storage. This is a 220 mHz mobile rig made in the 1980's.

It works great but needs the PL board, and I don't have the model number. Can anyone tell me what it is? I don't have the manual for this rig yet, and there is no mention of its PL board's model number on the Internet.

I was able to find out that the 2-meter version, the TM-2530, uses the TU-7 PL board, as do the 2550 and 2570, which are also very similar. So most likely the 3530A does also, but I thought I'd make sure.

Piexx makes their version of the TU-7, and I thought I might get it.

Thanks

According to the TM-3530 Service Manual, the radio does indeed use the TU-7 tone unit.  Good luck.

Go to Ebay and type in TU-7 in the search. There's a couple listed NOW.

Larry,

Thanks for the info! I didn't get the one on eBay, nor had I bought it from anywhere else yet. Thinking they may not make it forever, I ordered it from Piexx today. Turns out it was the same price pretty much as the one on eBay (which was also from Piexx), $66 total ($59 + $7 shipping). I look forward to receiving and installing it.
