Hello,

I have a ham friend that is having health problems, and his family is selling one of his radios, it is an IC-2800H  UHF/VHF Dual Band ... Detach Face,  with HM-98 remote Mic.  We are not sure what a good price to ask for this item is.  The box is not in the best condition, however the rig is in new condition never being used other than myself hooking it up today to make sure it did work. I was thinking about ebay on this item, but not sure what is a fair asking price.

1.  Look up the new price on a web site like the AES one.

2.  Determine what percent of new price you think is fair.  However keep in mind that since the buyer cannot get a warranty that he will not be willing to go very high.

3.  Keep in mind that eBay is an AUCTION.  People bid on it.  If you want to set the price, list it on a site like eham instead.

4.  If you decide to go with the auction, you may want to set a reserve price so you don't have to sell it if it doesn't hit the reserve.  If you don't and the highest bidder is a penny, you have to sell it for the highest bid.

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than 50% to 66% of new even if it is in like-new condition for something like this as new ones are not particularly expensive.

I have had 3 of them and i have seen them go for $350 to $425.

Depending on condition and if all the stuff that comes
in the box is there. You can't get Parts for it anymore.

So if it's missing stuff then
you'll not get a good proce price for it. I own one now.

I agree with the other post, put it on Eham or QTH
first and see what happens.

$350 is a good price for one in nice condition.
