Has anyone broused the ARRL aution site?  Is it just me or is there a bunch of suckers there?  I can't beleive what that stuff is bidding for?  I mean an IC-7000 selling for within $25 of one on AES?  Who are you going to send it to if it breaks in the first 30 days?  ICOM, that's who.  Not only that, you have to pay shipping.  Most major ham stores give you free shipping when your order is over $1K.

Another concern, you MUST enter a valid credit card to BID?  WUWT?  The way stuff gets hacked these days, I don't feel to good about doing that.

I've noticed that too - prices are way too high, it's better to just buy new.

It's a FUND RAISER similar to what they do for Cancer Research or a Boy's Club, etc.  If you really wnat something cheap, try E-bay.  If you are wanting to get something of value and make a donation beyond the value, place your bid on the ARRL auction.  And, as far as your credit card number, not much different than qualifying yourself as a bidder at any auction of this type.  It keeps out the wannabe's.

The only thing I wanted was the signed "Eagles" guitar.

It's too expensive, so I'll visit Joe with a guitar in hand and see if he'll sign it, and then get the others to sign it, too.

I promise I won't auction it off, it would just be a cool thing to have.

"On a deserted sideband,
 Heil Mic in my hand,
 I called out my CQ,
 To reach fellow haaaammmms,

 I heard in the distance,
 A quivering plea,
 Did somebody answer,
 Must be QRPeeeeee......

I bid on some things and knew I
was bidding more than they were worth
because it is a fund raiser.  I got
beat on everything, after all I'm
only gonna pay so much more than
they're worth.  I look at it as my
contribution because I did help
jack the prices up!

Which E-bay are you referring to?

That may be, but some of the prices on 11/3 when the auction ended were way above market for used gear.  Better to buy the radio new, get the warranty, and use the rest to make a donation to ARRL that will be tax deductible.

Ebay - cheap?Huh?  Naw, I've seen used radios selling for more than new price - especially when you include shipping.  I just don't understand it.

Sometimes, you do find something that goes cheap, but not often.
