Vanity Callsign Applications.

I did my vanity through W5YI, and they indicated it should be assigned on the 19th.  I look it up and I see no changes to the application since 3-30 I believe.

Is it normal for those to just sort of "sit" and wait?

I applied for (and have since renewed) my vanity call through the FCC's website and it only cost me the vanity fee (and a few minutes of my time).

Since you paid W5YI and additional fee to do it for you, I think you should contact them and ask what is going on. After all, you paid them almost $40 and they should give you some personal service for that kind of money.

4/17/07 is your process date.  I just did mine on the FCC site and followed the progress on AE7Q's site.  He had a prediction date and it was spot on.  I'm guessing there will be no information because there is typically a 18 day waiting period to see if anybody else is competing for the call and waiting for mail in payment. It looks like you are going to get the call, you just have to let the process work.

This is a great site, and they have excellent tutorials on the whole process.  Some people complain the process takes too long in this day of the Internet, but they  have to give others a chance to get their check mailed in if they choose to pay by snail mail.  Here is the link to the explanation page:

Dean (AE7Q) does a much better job of explaining the process than I do.  The nice thing that once it's posted on the FCC's site you can start using the call right away.  You don't need the paper copy.  In fact you can print the paper copy from the FCC website or AE7Q's site.  The only thing that matters is what is in the FCC's database.
