I have been a subscriber for many years and sadly I find myself parting ways with CQ Magazine.
CQ is raising it's price (no problem there) but offered a subscription with a renewal savings coupon that reduced the cost from $96.95 to $83.95. I tried to renew getting that price on line and it was not available. I then called CQ subscription services and asked for the better rate. The person answering the phone sounded glib and said that the rate was only available via mail. She did not care that I was remote in Greenland and that mail is problematic. Seems to me that this ia a bad business practice. They should work with the customer not give the customer a hard time.
Because of this experience I will never subscribe to CQ again nor buy their products or magazines. I realy think they should rethink their priorities since it obviously is not the customer.

Just send in the renewal by mail. No big deal. Even mail from the boonies gets delivered.
I can't believe the things some hams gripe about.

A smoking section in a restaurant makes as much sense as a peeing section in a swimming pool.

So what's the point or use of your posting?
You had a bad experience and you made a decision.
I commend you for that but that doesn't change my attitude at all about the folks at CQ Communications.
You'll get over it.

Don't you think you might be overreacting just a little? I mean, permanently boycotting CQ and its products for life over $13? Especially when it's over a discount that they were never offering in the first place and that you wanted as special treatment?
They didn't rip you off, and you were still free to get the discount by mail. It's not CQ's fault that you don't want to do it that way.

For $96, I think I can get more content elsewhere than CQ magazine. That rag doesn't have anything in it.

!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!
Dottie from CQ magazine called me today and offered an appology an the advertized price. She has taken steps to ensure that nothing like this happens again. CQ magazine has also sent a complimentary Callendar.
Again Thank you Dottie for making it easy to subscribe!

I agree. I sure hope he appologizes to Dottie and the rest in public just like Dottie did to him.
Boy, if I ever get that pissy over missing a lousy 13 dollar discount and post a public rant I want someone to slap me.

Give him credit for coming back and setting the record straight, guys.
Many on the internet will start a negative rant about companies and consumers and then disappear.
