I need a long straight extension cable for my Alinco DR-600T.  I want to run it under the seat on my truck and up the back, so I don't want a coiled cable.  The Alinco mic cable has one shielded wire for the audio and six other un-shielded conductors.  Does anyone know of a source for this cable?

The current edition of the ARRL's "Hints and Kinks" publication has an article describing how to make your own 8-pin round (Foster) extension cable using an 8 pin female connector, an 8-pin male connector and the shell from a PL259.  I just read the article yesterday.  Good luck and Happy New Year!

Is the "Hints and Kinks" publication a separate magazine, an Internet article or a section of QST?  Can you tell me what kind of cable they specified in the article, and where to get it?

I believe that Hints and Kinks is a regular monthly section within the QST magazine.
