Apparently one in two ham radio enthusiasts have at least a cat. The reason is yet to be determined. This site has pictures and comments about the cats that live on or around computers or amateur radio stations.

A cat doesn't insist on going for a walkie just when some rare DX turns up...and there isn't a pile-up.

And cats don't bark mindlessly when the VOX has been inadvertently left on.

Always remember that to the dog, you're family. To the cat, You're staff!

I see the cats, but where are the ham radios??? Only two pictures show them near a radio. Most of them are around a computer/lap top.  Maybe this site should be ComputerCats.com.

Mine does. Especially with a little BBQ sauce.

I don't have a cat.

My wife has a cat, a little smart ass Siamese cat named Memphis.

But the damn thing follows me around everywhere and ignores her.

Other than that, this cat is smarter than any I've ever seen. He actually uses the toilet. And I mean, #2. I would say, "no s--t" but he really does. So, I guess I should say, "yes, s--t!"

He learned how to fetch, apparently by watching me work with my 2 bird dogs. He just sits in the window and watches the whole thing. Now when we throw a cat toy across the room or down the stairs, the little s.o.b. brings it back and drops it at our feet.

Rare, right? I thought so, and videoed it for Youtube.

When I was ready to post the video, I did a search on "cat fetch" just for grins. And then 60 cat fetch videos showed up.

Oh, well.

So much for unique.

Haven't taught the cat "code" yet, but he doesn't need that to be a ham cat anyway, I guess.
