I have heard of people using chicken Band amps are these broad banded enough to run on 80-10. I dont want to spend a fortune on this. But would like some input about what others are using in there mobile setup.

Thanks
Brian

The Ameritron 500W mobile amp is popular and works well.  I see them used at ham Swap Meets for about $350-$400 and they are well worth this.

The HF amp kits from Communication Concepts Inc. <http://www.communication-concepts.com> are a very good deal.  I built the EB-63 kit years ago, and it still works perfectly.  They sell models from 20W to 1000W, all as kits, priced very attractively.

WHY is it not legal to use a CB amp???

I was under the impression that once the amp was in the country, a HAM was allowed to buy and sell ONE AMP per year that was not type accepted.
