I am looking for a power bar, power block, power connector - what ever they are called  ..

Here is what i want to do.

I do not want to hook my mobil power cable directly to the battery - I would like to find a distribution bar ( that is hooked to the battery ) with terminals on it so I can hook up my 2 meter and maybe something else to the battery. Using a block of terminals would put less strain than putting a number of connectors onto the battery.

What do they call these power distribution panels/blocks

Who makes them

Where can I buy them

This is what I used.  2 gauge wire from battery to back behind the truck seat and power Icom 706MKIIG,
stereo amplifier, Texas Twister 2000 screwdriver antenna, and CB(I know, I travel alot).

MFJ also sells block connectors.  You could also make one.  I would use heavy guage wire (12 or 14) depending on what kind of load you will be hooking up too it.  Good luck.

Sounds like you're after a power distribution panel.  That's what
I used in my Crown Vic.  I bought a police-style hump mount radio
rack for it, and it came with a handy power distribution panel, with
six fused taps fed from a big honking lug in the center.  While the
mounting rack was made by Scientific Dimensions International,
the power distribution fuse blocks are actually made by DuraComm.
They take ordinary ATC style automotive blade fuses.  I bought this
gear from Tessco (www.tessco.com), who is aimed squarely at the
industrial/emergency communications market, but they were
willing to sell me stuff too.
