Does anyone know how to crank the audio on a Kenwood tmv-7a...seems low according to reports.

Your best bet is to use an external speaker if you aren't already.  It helps the audio quality tremendously.  You can get one new from Kenwood for $50 or so, or check EBay.  I found a practically new one there for $8.  It really transformed my V7A, and I have a very quietly-riding car.
