I currently use my HT with an external 1/4 wave mag mount for traveling (mostly rental cars). I can power it with the cig adapter.

I would like to get a little more power as well as easier to use while driving unit.

I am looking at an ICOM 2100H and was wondering if I hooked up a cig adapter on ten watts whether I would have a problem. I assume the 50W the unit can run would be too much for the cig dc output fuse.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you really do keep the power down to 10W output, I don't think you'll have any problems.  Besides, the nice thing about rental cars is that you get to give them back at the end of the day.

At 10W output, most 2m mobile rigs only draw about 3Adc, and the cigar lighter outlet should handle this.  I'd be hesitant about the 50W power level, though.
