I have a 00 Chevy Silverado with a cassette player which we never use in the center console. It would be a perfect place for my 2M rig.  Has anyone ever installed a rig there?  Or, if you have ever removed the center console and/or taken the cassette out I would like to know how you accomplished the feat.
Thanks.

I'm a newbie, but one thing I can tell you for sure is to take into account how much heat a rig can produce and whether or not this heat can be properly dissipated if the rig's in the dash. I know I read about one guy who put his 2m in the dash of a Nissan, and at full power he started smelling melting plastic!

As for removal of the cassette, a Hayne's or Chilton's book from your local auto parts place probably has some good info.

A lot of these little 2 meter rigs develop an awful lot of heat if you turn up the power.
I would give it some room to breath regardless of where you put it.
