Most scanners have some sort of provision for an external antenna. Radio Shack is as good a place to start as any. Remember one thing. No matter who made the scanner, the front ends are by necessity rather wide. Increasing the size or location of the antenna improves reception of the signals, the noise, and the intermod as well. Sometimes it's best to leave a sleeping dog lie, but it never hurts to try.
