I am just getting in HF Mobile and have noticed that there are a huge number of vehicles producing large levels of noise.

My question is are vehicle exempt from FCC rules about generating noise?

My 2002 F150 truck is terrible.  I am having the fuel pump issue fixed under warranty and have ordered a pile of split beads as well.

I can only imagine what BPL might do to mobile operations since power lines usually follow roads.

I do not know of any law suits involving the generated noise from a vehicle. However, the electronics on board must meet the same restrictions that home computers must meet. Which is to say, not much.

Vehicle manufacturers are aware of the problem, and Ford is an example of forward thinking. Their COP (coil over plug) technology incorporates a ferrite slug to reduce the amount of radiated RFI. It is for their on board stuff (AM/FM, built-in cell phones, navi systems, etc.) and not for some ham traveling along side.
