I just bought an Icom 208H dual-band radio and wanting to mount it in my car.  The problem is... once it's mounted, it will be a hassle to take the radio out to re-program it with my computer.  I have a "cloning" cable for my computer that plugs into the same port as the external speaker.  The jack is apparently a 1/8" stereo jack, although the speaker is not stereo... only a 2-conductor pin, while the cloning cable has a 3-conductor pin.  My question is, could I plug a stereo headphone extension cable into the port on the back of the radio and plug my external speaker into it... but when I want to re-program the radio, reach under the dash and exchange what is plugged into the end of the extension?  It SEEMS to me it should work.  I just want to know if anyone has information that this would NOT work or could damage something.
