Moving memories on the FT-8800

I just bought myself a Yaesu FT-8800.  This is an awesome dual band mobile, and I highly recommend it.  It has one minor problem that I'd like to find an answer to.  Both the left and right bands have their own set of memories (500+ each).  There is no way I'll EVER use 500 memories, let alone the 1000+ total.  Is there any way that I can copy the entire memory contents from the left band to the right band or vice versa?  There is mention in the manual of copying banks within the same band, but no mention of copying from one side to the other.  Is there any way I can do this?

I don't own on of these radios, but I have used one.

Each side has 512 memory channels, 10 sets of PMS memory channels, and 5 home channels. You cannot move one to the other. However, you can transfer up to 6 channels into the Hyper memory, and these can be read from either side. This is sort of explained on page 32 of the manual. Note the gray bars in the memory channel setup on the page.

I would suggest you get a programming cable, and software. Dump the memories from the radio into the laptop, reorder then reupload to the radio. You might find someone near you with the cable, if not the cable is under $20 on ebay and get the software, $15 http://www.g4hfq.co.uk/ftb8800.htm

You can do a lot with the software that takes forever manually.
