I want to purchase a speaker mic (MH-57A4B) for my VX-7R. I'm going to be using the radio in an environment where much discretion is needed so that incoming calls on the radio can only be heard through an earpiece. So, does the mic have an earphone jack on it somewhere? I saw a few pics that show a plug/jack on the bottom part where the cable lead goes out.

There is a mic for it that has an earphone jack, but I looked and I couldn't find a MC57. You can check for yourself.

Alan, that might because it's a YAESU.

I did a little searching, on Google, and could find nothing concrete on this thing, including at Yaesu/Vertex.

Only other thing I can suggest is call on of the suppliers, like AES, on the phone.

Have you considered a headset,instead?

I've forgotten, SOMEWHERE, one of the handheld folks had an "in the ear" phone/mic a la Secret Service.  I don't remember the details, and whether or not it was VOX or what.

I don't know about the item you are asking about.  But, If you want an earpiece, have you looked at the VC27 earpiece mic w/ PTT from Yaesu?

Radiohead,

I have an MH-57 that I use with my VX-7R.  It does indeed have an earphone jack on the bottom that you can use with an earpiece.  I think it takes a standard 1/8-inch 2-ring (mono) plug.
