Brent and I (KB1LQD, KB1LQC), are going to go on a feild trip with our High School Bioldogy class on June 3rd, 2005. We will be bringing our 2M HT's, a portable J-Pole and our 440 Mhz HT's as well. We will be setting up on the top on Mt. Monadnock (In Jaffrey, NH. We expect to hit at least most of the New England area since we know people who have worked Connecticut on 1 Watt) with our J-Pole and working .5 to 5.5 Watts on 2M simplex (146.520 Mhz) , We hope to work as many people as we can in the hour or so we have on top. We could be on the Top of the Mountain (3,165 Ft) from around 10 AM to 12 PM EST. More likely closer to 11AM - 12PM.
We will most likely being working local repeaters and Simplex (446.000 Mhz) on the 70 CM (440 MHz) HT's on our way up, on top, and on the way Down the mountian. THough, the 440 will only have a Rubber duck as compared to the portable J-Pole for the 2M HT.
Well, hope to work anyone who will be listening on 146.520 and 446.000 as well as any local repeaters, mainly the Hollis 440 and the westford 2M but we really are going to put the effort into the Simplex on the top of the mountain. Remember, this is with about 190 other High School kids in our grade (10th Grade) and most of them Including the teachers do not know we are bringing the radios so we should draw quite a crowd, HIHI. Hey, mabye it will get some interested in the hobby! well, other than that, hope to work many people and Good luck and have fun!
